The seventh month the seventh day
Four men with rucksacks said goodbye
Their time to die their time to pray

Beliefs held deep with price to pay
They knew today they’d glorify
This seventh month this seventh day

The others made their usual way
Without a chance to deify
Their time to die their time to pray

Fond words unsaid thoughts held at bay
If only they could nullify
The seventh month the seventh day

Emotions hold all in their sway
Fear and despair together lie
As victims die and wounded pray

Some celebrate the disarray
For others life is all awry
This seventh month this seventh day
As many die and others pray

What a very good poem, all the more telling for its restraint in dealing with something that has affected us all deeply.
