Lonely Girl

Poem By Andrew Shiston

Forlorn and standing tall
In an empty dockyard basin
Bent and rusted rails
By broken fallen walls
Stands the rusty crane
Below her siezed up wheels
And piles of mixed up cables
Lay her massive hook
That lifted all the cargos
From deep inside the holds
Until her day had come
Now she stands alone
In an empty dockyard basin
No ships, no men, just rubbish
Drifting down the wharf.
