Lost

Poem By nisha dyrene

I sit and stare
I don’t want to get up
I eat a lot
I eat nothing
By turns
By days
Who’s counting?

I’m hiding
From myself
From god
From the world
No one’s looking
And only god knows
I’m running

I’m the poster child for cowardice
And stagnating potential

I’ve made bad choices
I’ve hurt people
Not intentionally
But they all say that
Don’t’ they?
Even the really bad ones

Just once I wanted to love
To be loved
I was
But what a farce it all was
In the end

One wore rose coloured glasses
The other wore dark shades
But however you see it
No one was looking
At the real picture

You hold on to me

When love goes bad
It leaves a bitter acid in your mouth
That begins to eat away at your insides
Hollowing you out

Friend, lover

who can always
