I'M Like A Mollusc In A Sticky Shell

Poem By Natalia Bakina

I’m like a mollusc in a sticky shell
Endeavouring to find the day
And break out of the inner hell,
Ill tides that fill me with dismay,
Black waters with a filthy smell, -
But all my floods have run astray...

In no-man’s land I’m in the wrong –
Breathing the music sprayed around -
I can not stay where I belong -
It poisons by its eerie sound...
Where are you with your blissful song
To play the splendours that you’ve found?

No want for glutinous sentiment,
I’ve seen my marvel – a moon-lit sky,
My self-indulgence, my testament...
I’ve heard my prayer – a grave-deep cry...
When love forms layers of sediment
All unknown ways are worth a try.
