Bright memories, like exquisite porcelains,
we carefully place in our hearts and minds.
That we might visit with them, like old cherished friends.

Dark memories, like sacks of garbage,
we throw into the darkest corner of our souls.
That they might not surface into our present!

Other memories, like leaves in our yards,
we leave scattered about.
That the wind in our lives might toss them into remembrance, from time to time.

Your verse will be treasured.... love this poem. Thanks a lot for sharing your sentiment.
So beautifully expressed - wonderful imagery! Splitting them up into light & dark? Pure genius :)
I love the way you've split memories into bright, dark and other, with how we should use them. Wise words indeed, and beautifully put. This is now one of my favourite poems.
