I would like to know where memories go
by Marion McAnear
When a man cashes in his chips.
Do they sail away from a secret bay
Disappear like so many ships?
Till out of sight in the dead of night
Anchor for an unknown time
On command from afar open the jar
Get all the messages in rhyme!
An assortment of things like diamonds and rings
That sparkle with the good times had
Interspersed with tears and visible tears
Showing I was sometimes sad.
