Memories On Display

Poem By Marilyn Lott

Have you ever had the kind of day
When you drive around just to enjoy
Places you have been in the past before
Bringing back precious lifetime stories?

I saw an old barn once owned by a friend
And came across Robert’s favorite pond
Cluttered a bit by brush and weeds
It’s a place that I am truly fond

The reflections from Roberts’s pond
Are like the reflections of the past
Stopping time dead when you see them
Places you never thought would last

A beautiful unique gyp rock
Brings back many thoughts to me
To add to my memory book
Of many special things that I see

Buildings I remember as I pass them by
But time takes its ultimate toll
Treasured barns eventually crumble
Tired cotton fields on Cloud Chief soil

Yes, it’s kind of sad, you know?
But also happy memories come my way
Chapters of my life are gently closed
They are my memories on display!
