Men And Salt

Fumbling, I arise sunlike
With the waking day risen.
Fumbling, from the sweetness
Of dreams.

The cavernous night,
The bowels of Mother Earth,
Cradle and game cradle me
No longer.

Memories sing out
Like birds
In the stoney stillness
Of morning.
