Mother's Day

At eighty-four
she is not old.
Though she denies
some salient facts,
I had just called her
to say Hi,
and also Happy Mother's Day,
when, with an edge
within her voice
did want to know
about her life
with us,
her children.
'Was it acceptable,
and did I do
what could be called
a loving job
for all of you,
what do you think? '
I could not run
so quickly said
'Most of the time
most certainly.'
It was an answer
she had needed.

She really has and I have never realised this until recently. What a sacrifice mothers bring! H
I think all mothers need to hear that they've done a good job. Nice one. Sincerely, Mary
