My Brother's Keeper
Should I declare myself above another
by Charlie Spaulding
In worldly wealth and power over my brother
And say to him, "Go thy way, in misery drown-
Little do I care, in luxury do I abound."
So when I am called to face the stand
Will one step forth to proudly take my hand?
Then might a voice of thunder stern and cold
Shout "Go! Buy thy way with silver and gold!"
Once I spied a brother fallen by the way
Might I have saved him had I paused that day?
Yet do I gaze upon him in my dreams
As unto the Lord my feeble spirit screams.
