My Hearts Case

In moments of grief and pain
Within the woe of wretched neglect
My heart will fix itself to fend
Erecting wards to fortify and protect

Against the aroused violent storms
Raging beyond her gates
To shield its mortal coil
To guard its fragile state

For now the waging wars have waned
And an anxious repose prevails and wades
Until the next agitated trail aggresses
And my lingering peace is stayed

For battles that were averted
Oppressive sieges delayed
these various ramparts left standing stout
In witness of soulful victories made

But now these wardful measure taken
Meant to sustain and protect
Are now a self same prison
Where the heart lies lonesomely kepted

How virile and stout these walls were wrought
To hold against a gushing sea
tis now an inescapable castled keep
For my inaccessible heart and me.
