My Mother And I

Half Creator of my life
Gentle to the touch to soothe my wounds
Taught me to walk and grow through the years
Stayed by me to comfort, if I were afraid
Arguments ensue as adolescence arrives
Trying desperately to be understood
Promises broken with deceitful lies
And draws a line between us
Years pass as adulthood approaches
I set aside my pride of heart and reach out for her
Now I can't
Now she is gone.
