My Mum

Poem By Don Pengilly

I know as children we all say
We have the greatest mums
But my mums something special
Not just goods at sums
She brought us up a godly way
In discipline and love
A sort of wondrous agape
That comes only from above

The sweetest mum you’ll ever find
This side of planet earth
She always did her best for us
From day that she gave birth
I heard her swear but only once
When sibs and I did wrong
When we had all said sorry mum
Her smile was like a song

People often said that she
Looks like lovely good Queen mother
But I say ‘no comparison’
For mum is like no other
She’s the kindest, sweetest mum on earth
Much loved in old St Keverne
There will be great rejoicing
When she’s welcomed up in Heaven

For she loves her Lord so greatly
There’ll be a special place up there
A Mansion so outstanding
Nothing will compare
And Jesus will be waiting
For this lady fair of grace
He will take her by the hand
And show her to her place

Dear mum I’d like to say
That we all love you so
That you’re the kindest sweetest mum
That we could ever know
What an amazing privilege
To know your such a dear
Every day is Mothers day
We mean this most sincere
