My Mum Is Gone

I walked up to her, each step slow
deafened by the scream and mourn
I kneeled beside her, low
deep was my sorrow yet numb.

I reached to touch her, to feel
to my shock she was warm
maybe she was just still ill
hoping she really wasn't gone

her skin was glowing bright
a half smile on her still pretty face
but still was her body and weight, light
and didn't respond to all the craze

she truly is gone
forever truly gone

The loss of a mother is indescribable, trust me I know the feeling, I have been there. A beautiful poem chronicling the last moments of a loving mother.
A sad story of losing a mum beautifully told. Kingsley Egbukole
