My Series Of Unfortunate Events

The deck seems stacked against my favor
Leaving me only death to savor
The world has been a most cruel place
Stealing loved ones with an unfeeling grace

In 1998 something bad stirred
The death of Jaret Adelman occured
Marita Ann Lackners's car hit him hard
Leaving me emotionally scarred
The hatred for her shall forever last
Until death takes her fast.

Before that when I was three
My parents were filled with glee
With a new baby to look at and see
Only this baby had a fatal cree
Not a cry came from her head
The child was born dead.

Again in 2001
Just for fun
The sea swallowed Gene
Never again to be seen
Lost in the blue
The grip of reality rang true

These are the reasons I write about pain
Or dying on this unholy plane
The deck seems stacked against my favor
Leaving me only death to savor

The poem is very compelling in its honesty and pain.
Wow...very intense. Good title.
Another brave piece. Well done. I love how the last stanza wraps it up. The title is clever, too. Have you read any of the books?
