My Thoughts Do Rot

Poem By Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

Along paths of green and grey and black
I travel forward and then back,
Meeting folk every day
Going to work and to play.

As I traverse my ways in Life,
I pray they be free from strife,
For I shall live many more days
To savour HIS creation and HIS ways.
To praise HIM for HIS gift of Life,
That HE has granted to Me and my Wife.

When days are grey and I feel sad,
There is yet good to follow the bad,
For ‘Hope Springs Eternal’, I am told,
To make us feel warm, when we are cold.

I wonder why these Poems I write,
Not in the Morn, but in the Night.
My Mind more active when I should sleep,
That words come out from my Mind so deep.
And from pen to paper, I must them down jot,
Lest words are lost, and my thoughts do rot.
