New Year's Eve

Another year has come and past
I'm sitting alone in the darkness so vast
the silence interrupted by the leaking sink
I'm watching till my pen runs out of ink

I take a walk down memory lane
watching faces aglow by the window pane
Remembering how things were different then
when my face was glowing along with them

The house bursting with laughter and noise
now missing the estranged sounds of a voice
I see the lights soaring up high in the air
but then they fade, leaving emptiness to bear

I dial your number hoping someone picks up
the line keeps beeping till my time runs up
It doesn't matter, didn't know what to say
Another year has come and gone away...
