Night And Day

It's a cold balmy night
A chill wind whips across an empty yard
Devoid of life, twinkling in the twilight

Tucked away from all the world
Nestled snug in its little corner
Beneath somber lights, shadows cast and dreams unfurl

Inside a metal and concrete perdition
A segmented society living behind a veil
We sit divided by invisible partitions

Lines drawn clear become vague
Right and wrong begin to lose texture
Sleeping wide awake with one foot in the grave

The restlessness begins to fester
As the recognition dawns upon our souls
Old calluses start to tear and blister

Falling away like voices from long ago
And in this world dreams once vibrant falter
With the ticking of time towards the the unknown

A bleeding heart scabs over
Searching for the dullness of indifference
The weight seems lighter upon your snoulder

Dew settles on this dreary landscape
Like a momentary splash of hope
Then all too quickly evaporates

The sun rises in the sky
The light comes shining through my window
I rise wiping the sleep from my eyes

Thoughts of yesterday remain
In the light our world is visible
Our lives have become the remnants of old stains

The day us hot and dry
The heat presses down upon you
And I find myself, longing for the night
