No Line Will Hold

No Line Will Hold

Poem By barbara foster schutz

No line will hold,
meant to divide.
Between youth and age
there is slippage.
Poor sight slows
the agile foot;
strong hearts beat
against thin bones.

Most visible, that line
removing sky
from sea defies
the grasp. Between
the sea and land
no barrier stands
to halt the tide.
The shoreline shifts.

Darkness dwindles into dawn;
day melts to night.
Who can point
where God begins
or ends
within a man?
No line will hold,
meant to divide
