No Stone Unturned

In fields and forests I searched for Jesus
But found Him not
On Rocky Mountains I combed the peaks
But found Him not
In work and study I toiled and laboured
But found Him not
To family and friends I turned for help
But found Him not
In priests and pastors I placed my hope
But found Him not
In church and sermons I beseeched him
But found Him not
In scripture and prayer I pleaded
But found him not
In duty and service I sweated
But found Him not
In souls and saints I fished around
But found Him not
In mind and the cosmos I explored
But found Him not
In religion and science I probed
But found Him not
In knowledge and intellect I delved
But found Him not
Exhausted I sat alone in silent
Contemplation and in stillness He came….
Now, everyday, everywhere I see Him
In the stranger, I see Him
In the poor, I see Him
In the naked, I see Him
In the hungry, I see Him
In the thirsty, I see Him
In the sick, I see Him
In the prisons, I see Him
And in the better off, I see Him
Reminding you and me daily
That He has no religion and cares nothing
About our prized and cherished doctrines
Save for how much we love
For He has no grandsons, only sons
And we are truly our brother's keeper.
