O Captain! My Captain!

O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,

Oh Captain. My captain The poem in itself is mesmerising. But the audio lakes the feel.

This poem was learnt during my school days. Grade V. The poem was just memorized. Now, I read the poem again. I wish he was here now to converse with at least for these lines O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done; The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won; The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting, While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring: On reading between lines, I wonder what should have been the state of mind of the poet while penning down :)

Whitman was not just a great poet but a mystic.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still; My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will; The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done; A great tragic yet touching poem. Job is well done prior to death. Nice poem. Thanks poet.

And so now the poet is dead after his poem has sailed into fame, he greets the captain ironically death has the last laugh, I love this poem and am fascinated with the poets of yesteryear
