Ode To A Soldier

Poem By Ramona Mayes

Pride and Courage are things that they felt
On Foreign Soil they finally knelt
With one last cry, Freedom they drew their last breath
They taught us a lesson we'll never forget
To honor the red Stay true to the blue
Protect the flag it will see you thru
With dirt stained hands and tear streaked eyes
dawns early light proved not a pretty sight
Their resting now with the father above
Our banner still waves over the land of the free
because of the brave that died fearlessly
