Old Enough

Old enough to hold a car and truck licence and old enough to vote
And old enough to have a gun licence and operate a small fishing boat
And old enough to recognize an apple from a quince
Yet not old enough to be blessed with much sense
On saturday at the football club involved in a fight
And on sunday morning he looked quite a sight
Wearing dark glasses his face bruised black and blue
What he received it was only his due
Twenty five years in the prime of his life
With a lovely young son and daughter and a beautiful wife
One might think in life he has much to be happy about
But with a few beers in he shoots off his mouth
For our lessons in life always some price to pay
Maybe he ought to give liquor away.
