On This Mountain

I sit on top of the mountain
Thinking about my life
I contemplate the inevitable
I will never have a wife.

No one out there for me
The fault of my own
Don’t ever trust anyone
To calm my storm

I tried once
It took me by surprise
I loved her but
She was not a prize

It was more than that
She was an angel in disguise
I thought the pain of lonliness would
Finally not show in my eyes

We ended after about 8 months
Loved like we were lost souls
Went through hell
It took its toll

As I sit here on this mountain
I look back now
If only I could have been better
We would now have a vow
