On Valentine's Day

I had lost touch with who I truly am
So oft I longed for other pastures green
Abided in the Land-of-Might-Have-Been
Unspoken feelings walled within a dam
My self, in fear, had closed up like a clam
A world away from anywhere serene
A well of sadness, deep within, unseen
My seeming happy countenance a sham

But then my heart a kindred spirit found
When my beloved came into my life
His words gave rippled shivers of delight
To such a man I'd wish to be a wife
Now radiant love inside me does abound
My heart is open wide and wondrous light!
