Once Upon A Fairytale
Poem By George Wootton
Once upon a fairy tale a girl set longing gaze,
She dreamed of knights on chargers
And a prince to fill her days.
She searched and dreamed alas, alas
She could not find her prince
She feared the worst, that she’d grow old
Alone with beauty spent.
Her fruitless dreams continued on
Until one day she found
An ordinary ugly man
And chose to settle down.
The man was kind and gentle
And loved her beyond compare,
He saw the beauty within her,
Her golden, glistening hair.
He cherished their time together
When in her arms she’d hold
This loving, thoughtful ugly man
With whom she must grow old.
Then came a day her dreams would change
She no longer felt the loss,
She dreamed now of the ugly man
And counted not the cost.
She found that dreams gone by are worthless,
The past forgotten hence
She had finally come to realize
she had found her handsome prince!
