*one Of My Ancient Ones* 'Letting Go...'

Letting go is not so easy,
In fact it's the hardest part.
For so long I've been greedy,
By ripping it all apart.
So many memories cloud my mind;
I need you to be near...
It hurts to leave you behind;
I'm nearing my greatest fear.

I will walk along,
Try to hum a song.
I will walk along,
Try to find somewhere to belong.

I just can't fit in,
Not anywhere...
I know I can't win,
And it's just not fair.

But I will try,
Try not to cry...
And I will try,
Try to fly.

We all feel that we do not 'fit in' at many points of time, but you just ahve to chnage the paramteres of fitting in. I too relate to this poem.And its great that you are sharing your odl poems, if you read my poetry, you'll see so much difference in the poems i wrote 3 years back or even one year backa nd the one's i wrote now. This is so heartfelt - I am right in that place now - letting go - I am afraid to let go of what was the best years of my life. Beautiful poem. Charmaine x
One thing for sure even when you wrote this at a young age, is how all the onset of every emotion is displayed here, the fear, the insecurity, the anger, the regret. What makes a poem fantastic, even when its written at a young age or theres few words, is when the truth of how you feel is displayed, its the most captivating of every sensation, thats human emotion, dont you sometimes wish we didnt have any!
Hi Lesa, I want to start over and I am scared. I feel like you I guess. I can relate to this poem. It is difficult to move on. We get comfortable in life regardless if were unhappy because that is what were are familar with. The unknown is scary. For me anyways. Excellent poem, take care.
