Only When...

Poem By Elena V. Moonray

Some people
will never like me,
some people will
never care about me;
some people
will never be my friends...
or anybody's...
and so what?
most people simply
love their isolation
and don't relate to others
in any way, except for
riding
the same subway, gliding
over faces,
thinking their own thoughts...

and this is simply how thing are -
it never bothered me a bit.

only knowing that you...
are becoming one of them,
one of these strangers
hurts
