Others They Will Never Be
Poem By Lawrence S. Pertillar
Committed to making false appearances.
Is a race against time,
Some start to find never finishes.
Acceptance and approval,
Is a constant battle.
For them fought within.
Hoping acceptance and approval wins.
Addicted they have become.
Practicing rehearsed impressions to make.
With tasteful and embellished,
Moments of their limited lives.
With a faked playing done to charade.
Until safe to feel to unmask their faces.
Wishing for themselves respect to get.
And that treasured to possess it,
Shown to make it known.
For exhibiting portrayals to imitate,
Others they will never be.
And done to betray,
The reality of their own indentites.
