Our Eternal Home

I met a doctor who had cancer,
He could not believe it was stage four.
At sixty, to me he was younger,
He said he still had a lot to live for.

I saw the despair in his eyes,
The hopelessness there and the great pain.
Life is so short and before we realize
Our days are ending, a brief time remains.

There was no cure that I could bring,
Only the comfort of words and prayer.
I asked the LORD for mercy and healing
For I trusted God Who is the true Healer.

I told him that Jesus is the only Way,
And this doctor believed that He died for us.
He received Christ as LORD and Savior that day
And the new life God gives that is so precious.

Death is the fate of all men on earth,
Our eternal home has rooms for me and you.
God's Word does not return void, it goes forth
In Christ we will live though we die, it's true!

This unshaken faith in God is what the world needs today! Man is so powerless, but when He is by our side, we grow powerful! An uplifting poem!

A poem that lifts up shaken spirit, very well writ.
'Life is so short and before we realize Our days are ending, a brief time remains' - so true! Death is inevitable. For those who prepare well for it, it's neither scary, nor saddening. Congratulations on your poem's selection as the 'Member Poem of the Day'!
