Pedestrian Fears

Poem By Hazel Izbitt

Neon lights I Inhale
with exhaust
And sweaty palms
Grasp my
Lungs are filled
With catcalls
And construction
Workers I feel
Dirty just
Walking down the
Street of
Objectified cardigans and
My face
burns with
each glance
I did not ask
For every lamp
Post there is a
Prostitute’s grace
The covers of
Cosmo and
Kids are now Born wearing
Eyeliner.
But
All I want to do
Is wander
Blindly
Meander
With love in hand
And a
Book in heart.
