The Lords Of Maussane
Poem By René Char
Whatever is advertised.
Promoted to sell over a medium controlled.
And owned to select a demographic.
Marketed to address and impress,
An effective campaign.
To limit their complaints.
As to who does what to do...
Better than all the rest.
Those left without this kind of access,
To rely and depend upon.
Will not see themselves given such praise.
As those who view,
On TV, in the movies or on covers of magazines.
A perfecting of their defections.
With a daily boost of flaunted pride.
Others who are denied.
And kept to feel less than inferior.
To believe this on a daily basis.
With it to accept,
Not as an option.
But the only choice to live with.
As their minds remain limited,
To accept and portray a betrayal.
And done to do at the best of their ability.
With it to receive approval,
For their lack of dignity, integrity or identity...
Believing this to achieve,
Will diminish their wishes...
Of dreaming one day to have acceptance and equality.
Like those they see,
On magazine covers.
And advertised with these qualities.
Depicted on TV.
What it is they wish.
With prayer to do until they get it.
