Perfectionisms

somewhere along a dusty dirt road
a teenage girl is sitting alone
in a field on a lazy summer day
wondering, just wondering
somewhere along the course of her life
she learned what’s wrong and what is right
but life’s lessons can escape us sometimes
learn them again, learn them again
and how do you explain
all the people in this world: the same
we just want to be perfect
but if we all were perfect
no one would be perfect

perfectionisms everywhere
he can’t afford your loving stare
so you live your perfectionisms
life slips away from you

somewhere on a big city street
a teenage girl walks in the summer heat
on a sidewalk covered in little dreams
wondering, just wondering
somewhere in the corner of her mind
she has a hope of the impossible kind
cause life’s lessons can escape us sometimes
don’t forget, no never forget
and how do you explain
all the people in this world: the same
we just want to be perfect
but if we all were perfect
no one would be perfect

perfectionisms everywhere
but life will never be quite fair
so you live your perfectionisms
life slips away from you

perfectionisms everywhere
but no one else will really care
still you live your perfectionisms
life slips away from you

nobody is perfect
forget the perfectionisms
forget them now

somewhere along a dusty dirt road
a teenage girl surrenders to the imperfections of life
