"Nature" Is What We See

668

"Nature" is what we see—
The Hill—the Afternoon—
Squirrel—Eclipse—the Bumble bee—
Nay—Nature is Heaven—
Nature is what we hear—
The Bobolink—the Sea—
Thunder—the Cricket—
Nay—Nature is Harmony—
Nature is what we know—
Yet have no art to say—
So impotent Our Wisdom is
To her Simplicity.

I find this story incredibly sad, I know how he feels, and where he was.....his mate.....and no societal support, with no compassion or charity A condition peculiar to the direct and abrupt way of Australian speaking.
I just recently found out that Peter Anderson was my great great great grandfather, and was amazed that the poet that i loved while growing up had wrote a story about him, its a great story, but true. if you r ever in gulgong check out the henry lawson museum
