Plain

Poem By Matt Palmer

Confused eyes gaze
At everything, so plain
So, disheartened is the brain
Knowing that, like all else
The heart is plain
And so the plain heart feels
Feels exquisite pain
And with each exhausted pump-push feels on
Feels simple
Feels dull, and dully pumps, pumps
Then stops feeling
Then, stops beating
And though the crimson currents slow
Softly glistening glazed eyes still gaze
Plainest of all things plain
But in their plain-ness, failed to note
The beauty of their flaw
In their plain-ness, never rightly saw at all.

There's something about this that just really makes me think...........It realy gives me a 'feeling' and I'm not sure what it is. I found myself reading this and almost reading it with a glazed eyed stare. Very strange. Hmmm.....very interesting poem Matthew. Sincerely, Mary
