Possible Future (A Song)

a hundred miles away, and it's starting to feel like home to me
I'll try to slip back into the mold of who I think I used to be
I never did figure out just who I've been trying to please
I think there's some kind of dream out there that I was trying to seize

I've tried to walk the road to fame, I never did succeed
there's just too many qualities I lack
I was just trying to find my place in this world
but I never could help but wonder...
will it all be there when I get back?

fifty miles away, and it's starting to feel like home again
I stopped worrying so constantly about where and how and when
I never did figure out how much time I've wasted so far
when they know every little thing about you, but they don't know who you are

I've walked the road to fame, but I still don't understand
how I've gotten so far off the track
I'm closer to finding my place in this world,
but I still wonder...
will it all be there when I get back?

twenty miles away, and it's starting to feel like home once more
I remember the times when I felt your pain sinking in under my door
the warm June breeze reminds me of what I had left behind
but years ago, I wanted out, and nothing could have changed my mind

I'm on the road to fame, and now I can't get off
it's only a matter of time before I crack
but I've found my true place, and it's right here
and I know for sure, this time
you'll always be there when I get back

just a mile away, and it's starting to feel like home to me
I'm looking back on the way that my whole world used to be
I never did figure out what life is best for me right now
all I know is that I'm back, and you're still here somehow.
