Prozacs For The Lonely Heart

Insomuch as we have the winds on our face tonight
The ocean commends us not

We have stated our plea
The waves push themselves into the sand

So does pain, into our hearts.
Punishing as they are, it is for us to take.

We cannot simply take a flight
Into the sky, since, with our lot

The GODS do not agree
If I could have a magic wand

I’d simply wish for spare parts
And then no heart would break.

I really like your line about the waves pushing into hearts like waves into the sand. Very nice line and a good poem.
