Quick Whispers Cold

Poem By David Howerton

Under darkness wind blows
around closed window, howls,
sit there shivering.
Pour cup of coffee
hold keeping fingers warm
candles flicker with each gust.
Gets to you watching
shapes in little morning flames
flickering with every wind
shadows jump fingers cold.
Small sounds whisper
quick in ear hair.

vuelta embotada de las flores

Holding your hand
walking down deserted street
spend minutes stopped
enjoying sunset.

Sky kind of orange-brown
getting hot again
smell of burnt plants
on wind.

Holding up
whole world gets darker.
Stop shake off fear
smell brewing coffee, sigh
