Quietness Is Nearer Than Some Realize
The roar of the traffic that buzz to and fro
And the noise of the car horns how shrilly they blow
And from the factory chimneys smoke darken the skies
In sprawling Suburbia polluted by noise.
Yet in the treed parklet just off of the by street
A timber park seat in a shady retreat
Where one can sit in peace and hear the doves coo
A ten minute walk from the main road peace and quiet awaits you.
'Yes' quietness is nearer than some realize
And one doesn't have to travel far to escape noise
I know of a small park where peace can be found
The songs of the birds is a pleasurable sound.
Not far from the main road where the cars buzz along
I know of a spot of peace and birdsong
Where spotted neck doves coo just off of the by street
And quite often frequented by the Rainbow Keet.
