Racing From Perdition

A face, a woman's face,
May be not beautiful at all.
But one will start a deadly race,
Completely under face's thrall.
Where is the secret, if there is?
Which threads of silk pull so tight?
Perhaps the answer is just this:
Being burnt by beauty is the greater fright.
