Realization Of A War

An apparition
Of the darkness,
I can see you,
Your real.

I can see the scratches
You left from shaving,
The dark winkles
From the Iraqi sun.

I can feel
Deep pain
In your smile;
Like a nation crying.

'Good morning', I say
As you blankly stare.
I know you.
Yet you smile,
And you laugh
At the reasons
We are here.

I want to scream,
And hurt you...
Slowly we fade
In the mist of morning.

Funny, how desolation and war
Can reach out In a dream
And force
Reality into our lives.

It always has.
