There was a family on my bus
I thought they came from Russia
Or Moscow
And I thought
'What must they think of us? '

It's not a best foot forward,
Put a brave face on it,
'We're the happy chappies in
God's Wonderful Kingdom'
On the top of a 171 to
Forest Hill.

Down the Walworth Road,
You get the people who know the prices in
for Cut-Price Smoking
And the SALE in
General Merchants (Import-Export) .

And when you pick up your bags
And leave the bus,
There's no fairytale
In Camberwell.
And the motto is Do-It-Yourself
(All timber cut to size)

And I saw the faces
of these temporary refugees
& they looked
