Smooth, sand colored walls
by Scott Kollodge
Gently meet each other.
Cool night breeze sneaks in
From all sides, causing
The forest of candles
To shiver, almost in unison. With
Each breath from the wind, the open room
Flashes and flickers, soft glow struggling
To bring peace back to its guests.
The black night sky lays
Unfolded for all to see, bright stars
Sparkling and twinkling, reflecting
Off the wide eyes of those lost
In its beauty. Streams of midnight blue
Clouds wave goodbye as they carry on,
Leaving the sky flawless, a painted
Picture with the darkest of blues,
Mixed with the darkest of blacks,
With the brightest of whites.
Like diamonds resting on black sand,
Each star as mesmerizing and majestic
As the next, boasting their light
For all to see.
Wide eyes slowly fall and
Minds return to reality as
Ears are gracefully welcomed as the
Piano softly speaks.
Couples saunter about
The wooden dance floor.
Others look on momentarily, before
Escaping the world into conversation
Over artistic meals
Lit only by flickering candles,
Of the moon.
