Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur

Poem By Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

We hear the Angels in Heaven holla
“What are you doing there? ”
“Why are you not in Synagogue
Saying your Prayers? ”

For today is Rosh Hashanah
The Jewish New Year’s Day,
The first of the ‘Ten Days of Penitence’
For forgiveness ALL Jews should pray.

The Synagogues are crowded
As congregations are full,
Families meet once again,
As they did last year in Shul.

To pray to G-D for forgiveness,
For Ten Days must we,
And hope that after Yom Kippur,
Free from Sin we all shall be.

For after the Shofar at Ne’ilah, when the Fast is o’er,
Our Slate is started once again,
Until that time next year ~ when
Once again ~ we hear the Angels holla.
