If Only Flowers Spoke

if only flowers spoke
wouldn't each petal
flow as a precious tear
on our cheeks?

if only flowers spoke
won't we hang our heads
in shame for the savage act
in normal parlance, a rape?

if only flowers spoke
will we ever lay our hand
on them even to offer
to the dumb gods?

we go on
for flowers are silent
and so are gods
and we, insensitive!

a very nice and touchy poem. and full of bitter realities of life.... poverty
