School Bus

expectations, excuses, broken pleas for forgiveness
all left at the start line
foot over foot
breath by breath
step by step
i'm leaving my demons behind

focused, determined, power-hungry
i've done this a thousand times before
all the lies and fights
they're the only things that drive me forward
i think i'll be running forever

fear, passion
fear of passion?
this is the hard part
the crossroads
forked like the devils tongue
i can't go back

roots, rocks
sticks and stones
maybe i can't do this on my own
can't go back to that place

but it's so hard
pushing on
it's not the fear of a fall that clouds my vision
but the fear of having no one to catch me
