Secrets

Poem By Jennifer Woodland

Pain shoots through my body
Like needles stabbing a cushion.
I can't move, can't protect myself.
The poison burns my veins.
They stand over me,
Watching, wondering if they should help.
One by one they leave.
Soon there is only him.
'Help' I gasp
Laughing through his eyes,
He turns away
I watch my last hope desert me.
My eyelids become heavy
He whispers in my ear,
'I had to, they new our secret.'
My last breath slowly escapes me
He won.
