Self Abuse

Poem By Dónall Dempsey

Abstractedly you chew
your cheese sandwich

& chew your hair
that the wind has blown

into the next bite
pulling you up with an 'Ouch! '

Hoisted by your own petard
as Shakespeare would have put it.

The wind sniggers.

Oh!
The dangers of
...self-mastication!
