Settling Down Winters Long Rest

Back where weeds thick
slightly moldy in autumn rains
sun doesn't get there much.
Proud watch last flowers still bloom
before frost sets in.
Long sleep comes soon
and gray soft sky’s
accompanied by wind song
harmonized under bare branches.
Still sleep settles over
forest and meadows
half nightmares of spring coming.
