Sharpening My Pencil

Poem By Irene Bitter

I’m sharpening my pencil,
Or maybe, I’m sharpening my tongue,
While the hooligans are sharpening
Their knives and their swords,
I’m sharpening my pencil because,
The pencil is my weapon,
And the bullets are my words,
Words can sometimes hurt
More than bullets of course,
I’m preparing for an opinion war,
Rhyming is my curse!

'The pencil is my weapon, And the bullets are my words, Words can sometimes hurt More than bullets of course.' Certainly! But... Who Are You Preparing Against?
